{"id":1678,"date":"2017-01-03T18:33:34","date_gmt":"2017-01-03T18:33:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wmo-sat.info\/satellite-user-readiness\/?p=1678"},"modified":"2018-09-13T17:58:07","modified_gmt":"2018-09-13T17:58:07","slug":"goes-r-series-user-notification-and-feedback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wmo-sat.info\/satellite-user-readiness\/goes-r-series-user-notification-and-feedback\/","title":{"rendered":"GOES-R Series User Notification and Feedback"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The GOES-R Series user community will be notified of satellite maneuvers and scanning changes the same as legacy systems; through the ESPC Operations listserv which is <a href=\"mailto:ESPC.Notification@noaa.gov\">ESPC.Notification@noaa.gov<\/a>.\u00a0Users are encouraged to complete the registration process below to receive the latest available information from NESDIS.<\/p>\n<p>In order to provide critical details regarding the forthcoming switch from<strong> GOES VARiable (GVAR) to GOES Rebroadcast (GRB) and from GOES Low Rate Information Transmission (LRIT) provided from the GOES-N series satellites to the new High Rate Information Transmission (HRIT)<\/strong>, each user is encouraged to complete the short (5-minute-long) registration process so that the user can receive the latest available information from NESDIS. The secure NOAA site is: <a href=\"https:\/\/dcs4.noaa.gov\/Account\/Login\">https:\/\/dcs4.noaa.gov\/Account\/Login<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And click on the link in the lower half of the page labeled:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Register for Direct Readout and Services Notifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/dcs4.noaa.gov\/Account\/SurveyForm\">Help us keep you up to date with changes and anomalies<\/a>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your support will be greatly appreciated and will help to keep users up to date.<\/p>\n<p>You can contact Jim McNitt (Direct Readout Program Manager) at <a href=\"mailto:james.mcnitt@noaa.gov\">james.mcnitt@noaa.gov<\/a> for additional information about the transition from <strong>GVAR to GRB<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We would also like to know whether you are an <strong>LRIT user planning to transition to HRIT\/EMWIN<\/strong> when GOES-16 becomes the operational GOES-East satellite this fall (or when GOES-S becomes GOES-West in the future) or whether you will have or will install a HRIT\/EMWIN system in the near future. Any other feedback on these two systems is welcome.
