Users are defined as the individuals, companies, and institutions that will use the GOES-R Level 1b (L1b), Level 2, and higher-level (L2+) products to perform their meteorological functions. Preparing users for the advanced capabilities of GOES-R Series satellites is essential to the success of the mission. The intended outcomes of the user readiness plan are day one readiness, maximum utilization of GOES-R products, and an effective transition to operations. GOES-R\u00a0engaged users early in the process through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/users\/proving-ground.html\">Proving Ground<\/a> and NOAA testbed activities, simulated data sets, training, scientific and user conferences, and other communication and outreach efforts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wmo-sat.info\/satellite-user-readiness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/readiness.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1003\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wmo-sat.info\/satellite-user-readiness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/readiness-400x282.jpg\" alt=\"readiness\" width=\"400\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wmo-sat.info\/satellite-user-readiness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/readiness-400x282.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.wmo-sat.info\/satellite-user-readiness\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/readiness.jpg 898w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/users\/user-readiness-overview.html\">Learn more about GOES-R User Readiness<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/org\/docs\/user-readiness-plan28-feb2012.pdf\">The GOES-R User Readiness Plan (URP)<\/a> provides an overall plan for the user readiness.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>An important element of user readiness is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goes-r.gov\/users\/proving-ground.html\">GOES-R Proving Ground.<\/a> The Proving Ground is a collaborative effort between the GOES-R Program Office, NOAA Cooperative Institutes, a NASA center, NWS Weather Forecast Offices, NCEP National Centers, and NOAA Test Beds across the country.
