BackForward Variable: Proton integral directional flux

Definition
Full name Proton integral directional flux
Definition Flux density of low-, medium-, and high-energy protons from the magnetosphere, the radiation belts or the interplanetary medium.
Measuring Units protons·(cm2 s sr)-1 Uncertainty Units %
Horizontal Res Units degrees Vertical Res Units
Stability Units % (Stability /decade)

Comment: A measure of the plasma and radiation environment that could present a hazard to satellites and humans in space and that is also responsible for ionospheric radio absorption. Low energy refers to 0 eV to 50 keV. Medium energy refers to 50 keV to a few MeV. High energy refers to a few MeV to 100s of MeV and above. The horizontal resolution is counted in degrees of arc along an Earth orbit, i.e. 90 degrees correspond to 4 measurement points.
