Programme description
  • Single-satellite programme, for ocean colour monitoring.
  • Programme organised on commercial basis by Orbital Imaging Corporation (ORBIMAGE), changing name to GeoEye in 2006.  Data purchased by NASA.
  • The platform is actively stabilised over 3 axes.
  • The design life time is 5 years.
  • The satellite is on a sunsynchronous orbit at 12:00.

Data circulation
  • Reduced-resolution global data are stored onboard and downlinked to stations managed by GeoEye from its Headquarters in Dulles, VA.
  • Real-time data are broadcast to appointed S-band stations in a format compatible with HRPT.
