Programme description
  • Single-satellite programme, addressing properties of the Magnetosphere.
  • Joint JAXA-NASA programme: JAXA responsible of satellite development, NASA of the launch.  Shared mission operations
  • The platform is spin-stabilised.
  • The design life time is 4 years.
  • The satellite exploits an elliptical orbit, highly elongated along the magnetospheric tail.

Data circulation
  • Onboard stored and real-time data downlinked to the Usuda and Kagoshima stations (Japan) and at the NASA's Deep Space Network.  JAXA is responsible for spacecraft operations.  Scientific data distributed from JAXA and NASA.
