OSCAR/Requirements is the
official repository of user requirements for observation of physical
variables in support of WMO Programmes and co-sponsored programmes.
The requirements are maintained by the focal points designated for
each application area. It is the foundation of the Rolling
Requirements Review (RRR) process overviewed the Expert Team on
Evolution of Global Observing Systems (ET-EGOS) of CBS. (More information)
OSCAR/SPace is a resource provided by WMO in support
of Earth Observation studies and global satellite mission
coordination. Satellite systems and plans are evolving. The
information contained in OSCAR is updated on by the WMO
Secretariat to the best of its knowledge, with the support of space
agencies. The assessments contained in OSCAR were performed
according to objective criteria, based on instrument design
characteristics, and submitted to validation by international expert
teams (mainly the WMO/CBS.
Expert Team on Satellite Systems ET-SAT). These assessments only reflect a
relative, and generally qualitative, evaluation. This general, first
level analysis does not replace a detailed analysis of instrument
performances or of the quality of derived environmental data records
for a specific user application.
The application makes use of geographic data and imagery from third party providers.
