Each instrument is assigned with a 5-step rating, evaluated as a blend of several elements such as the uncertainty, and the frequency and spatial resolution of the retrieved measurement in comparison with the space-time variability of the geophysical parameter. For this particular Variable, the rating is driven by:
the exploited measurement technique (lidar, spectrometry, radiometry)
the multi-viewing capability
the exploited spectral band (VIS, NIR, SWIR)
RATING CRITERIA:
1
Backscatter lidar
Lidar altimeter
2
Multi-viewing radiometer with channels in VIS + NIR + SWIR
Spectrometer or hyperspectral radiometer in VIS + NIR + SWIR
3
Radiometer with channels in VIS + NIR + SWIR
4
Multi-viewing radiometer with channels in VIS + NIR
Spectrometer or hyperspectral radiometer in VIS + NIR
Radiometer with channels in VIS + NIR
5
Multi-viewing VIS radiometer
VIS spectrometer
