The Conference, hosted by KMA on 9-12 October 2012 on Jeju Island, Republic of Korea, will foster exchanges on meteorological satellite application techniques among users in the Asia/Oceania region. Participants will also discuss advances in satellite observation technologies and explore the development of synergies related to meteorological satellites in the region. Building on two successful conferences in 2010 and 2011, the 3rd Asia/Oceania Meteorological Satellites Users’ Conference is co-sponsored by Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), China Meteorological Administration (CMA), the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (AuBoM), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and the Group on Earth Observation (GEO).
The Conference is open to all users of meteorological satellites in the Asia/Oceania region, and participation is free of charge. Abstract contributions are invited for submission by 7 July 2012.
In addition, a WMO-KMA satellite meteorology training event is being organized on 4-6 October 2012, hosted by KMA in Jincheon. The event is supported by the WMO-CGMS Virtual Laboratory and the RA II Pilot Project on developing support for NMHSs in the use of satellite data.
