Programme description
  • Single-satellite programme, addressing chemistry of the upper atmosphere.
  • International programme led by Sweden: SNSB responsible of development and operations of the space segment; major contributions from CSA (Canadian Space Agency), France (CNES) and TEKES (National Technology Agency of Finland)].
  • The platform is actively stabilised over 3 axes.
  • The design life time is 2 years.
  • The satellite exploits a sunsynchronous dawn-dusk orbit at 6:00.

Data circulation
  • The global data are stored onboard and downlinked to the Kiruna station.
  • Data processing is shared among several Swedish and foreign institutes, with central archive in Stockholm.  The OSIRIS data are processed at the University of Saskatchewan, Sasketoon, Canada.
