  • German programme led by GFZ (GeoForschungsZentrum, Potsdam) supported by DLR, with large international participation.
  • The platform is actively stabilised over 3 axes.
  • The design life time of the satellite is 5 years.
  • High-inclination drifting orbit.

Data circulation
  • Global data stored onboard and downlinked to a number of German stations, the main in Neustrelitz, and also at Svalbard.
  • Data collected and processed at the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in Potsdam.
