Observing Systems Capability Analysis and Review Tool
Satellite Programme: Indian National Satellite - 1
Series of 4 satellites in geostationary orbit for domestic telecommunications and operational meteorology.
Indian programme: ISRO responsible of development and operations.
The satellites are actively stabilised over 3 axes.
The design lifetime is 5 years.
Two geostationary positions, around 74°E and 93°E.
Replacement policy: two satellites at any time, in the two nominal positions; launches in each position at roughly 3-year intervals.
See detailed description at
Real-time data downlink to the ISRO mission operation centre.
Data from the meteorological instruments acquired, processed and disseminated by IMD.
