Programme description
  • Satellite programme, for solar-terrestrial interaction.
  • Joint NOAA-NASA programme - NASA responsible of the development of the space segment, NOAA of the development of the ground segment and of operations and exploitation.
  • The platforms are 3-axes stabilized.
  • The design lifetime of the satellites are 5 years.
  • The satellites are placed on the L1 Lagrange libration point (1,500,000 km from the Earth surface) pointing at the Sun and its environment.
Data circulation
  • Ground services performed by NOAA in accordance with NOAA's Ground Enterprise Requirement Structure.
  • Data Processing performed by the NWS Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC).
  • Archived data available from the NESDIS National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI)
