Observing Systems Capability Analysis and Review Tool
Satellite Programme: Deep Space Climate Observatory
Single satellite programme, for solar-terrestrial interaction and Earth's radiation.
Joint NOAA-NASA programme developed and operated by NASA for exploitation by NOAA.
The platform is 3-axes stabilised.
The design life time of the satellite is 5 years.
The satellite is placed on the L1 Lagrange libration point (1,500,000 km from the Earth surface) performing measurements on both the Sun and the Earth.
See detailed description at
Command and control station at Wallops Island (Virginia).
Data downlinked to the International Real Time Solar Wind Network (RTSWnet).
Data archived at the NOAA National Geophysical Data Center, Boulder, Co.
