Programme description
  • Single-satellite programme, initially intended as a series, for operational ocean observation.
  • Follow-on of the Okean-O1 series.  Main improvements: sunsynchronous orbit and more, improved instruments.
  • Joint Russia-Ukraine programme: NSAU responsible for the development of the space segment, with support from Roscosmos; RosHydroMet responsible of operations.
  • Satellites actively stabilised over three axes.
  • Design lifetime: 3 years.
  • The satellite exploited a sunsynchronous orbit.

Data circulation
  • Onboard stored data downlinked to stations in Moscow, Novosibirsk, and Khabarovsk (Pacific region).
